Affiliate Disclosure

The Black Cat Shop is a reader-supported, curated bookshop. Some of the links on this site are affiliate links — if you click one and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. This page explains how that works and why we do it.

What This Means in Practice

When Salem recommends a book or a curious little object, the recommendation itself is never for sale — our editorial choices are made because we genuinely believe in the book or item, never because of the commission attached to it. The affiliate relationship only affects where your purchase goes after you’ve decided to buy; it never influences whether something earns a place on our shelves.

As an Amazon Associate, I Earn From Qualifying Purchases

The Black Cat Shop is a participant in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by linking to Amazon.com.

Other Affiliate Programs

Beyond Amazon, we may also participate in affiliate programs through Bookshop.org, Awin, Rakuten Advertising, and similar networks, as well as individual retailer or brand partnerships. Whichever network a particular link runs through, the same principle applies: any commission comes from the retailer, never from you, and never changes the price you pay.

How You’ll See This on the Site

Pages and posts containing affiliate links carry a short disclosure note near the top, so it’s easy to spot before you start reading. On individual Book and Shop pages, retailer buttons are clearly labeled as leading to an outside store, alongside a short reminder that a commission may apply.

Why We Do This

Running a curated shop — researching titles, writing about them, keeping Salem in good company — takes real time. Affiliate commissions are one of the ways we’re able to keep doing that work sustainably, without resorting to ads or paywalling our writing. We’re grateful to anyone who chooses to buy through one of our links; it genuinely helps keep the shop’s lights on.
